Welcome to the School of Human and Community Development’s homepage.

The School brings together a diverse group of researchers, lecturers, practitioners and students in three dynamic academic disciplines and a professional training/ research centre committed to developing research, theory and practice that contribute to enhancing individual and community well-being.
The School is committed to:

The School is comprised of the following disciplines and professional training/ research centre:
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Speech Pathology & Audiology
- Emthonjeni Centre
All three academic disciplines were established as fully-fledged academic departments in 1936-1937. The Emthonjeni Centre (EC), a state-of-the-science facility offering integrated professional training to psychologists, social workers and speech and hearing therapists, was established in 2007.
