Employee Wellness Programme

Free, confidential and voluntary services

Welcome to the Employee Wellness Programme (EWP), delivered to you by Life Health Solutions. Our EWP is a caring, confidential service that helps you effectively manage the impact of work and life on your wellbeing, and is available to you and your immediate household members. There is no charge for our services. 

Mental health

  • Personal counselling for depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, anger management, and more
  • Work-related counselling for stress, burnout, conflict, bullying, dealing with change, and more
  • Substance abuse counselling covering alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, and other addictions
  • General health concerns supporting those infected, or affected, by chronic illness or disease
  • Workplace trauma management including on-site incident containment, debriefing, and counselling
  • Managerial services are provided to managers who need advice on people management and workplace challenges, such as conflict resolution, harassment, and substance abuse
  • Formal and informal referrals are offered to support employees' return to optimal functioning of their lives

Financial wellbeing

Whether you need help with budgeting, understanding your credit score, navigating motor and household insurance, retirement planning, or something else, our qualified financial coaches can help. We’ll provide you with support on:

  • Home loans, vehicle financing, and personal lending
  • Debt management, debt counselling, and solutions for debt relief
  • Wills, estate planning, and tax advice
  • Budgeting and personal loans
  • Garnishee order management
  • Transactional bank solutions

Legal advice

Get telephonic advice from our legal team who will guide you on matters relating to:

  • Civil and contractual disputes
  • Criminal offences
  • Motor vehicle and other accidental disputes
  • Property law and issues with tenants or landlords
  • Letters of demand and small claims issues
  • Domestic and family-related disputes such as maintenance, child custody and divorce

We’ll help you draft legal contracts. We work with a team of attorneys and advocates who will prepare legal contracts on your behalf:

  • Last will and testament
  • Antenuptial contracts
  • General power of attorney
  • Residential lease agreements and domestic employment agreements
  • Sale of property and items
  • Loan agreements, and acknowledgement of debt
  • Deed of suretyship

Physical health

We have a wellness app that lets you:

  • Conduct your own health risk assessment
  • Store and update your medical information
  • Find monthly articles and audio content in the wellness library on topics of interest to you
  • Find a Life Healthcare hospital near you

How to access the service

  • Call the Care Centre on 0800 004 770 at any time, day or night, and receive assistance in your preferred language.
  • SMS your name to 31581 at any time, day or night, and the Care Centre will call you back within 60 minutes.
  • Email ewp@lifehealthcare.co.za and receive counselling via email.

Financial Wellness with Zoluhle Financial Wellness

Financial stress has a negative impact on both our personal and professional lives.

Wits has partnered with Zoluhle Financial Wellness to help employees improve their financial literacy and take steps to financial wellbeing.

Zoluhle offers support and advice around home purchasing, vehicle purchasing, debt reviews, credit coaching and advice.

Campus Health and Wellness Centre

The Centre offers convenient and accessible health services to Wits students and staff members. 

The CHWC is a registered professional medical practice. All patients' records are confidential. Information regarding a patient will only be released with written permission from the patient if court-ordered or in the case of a threatening illness.

Counselling and Careers Development Unit (CCDU)

The CCDU is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals inclusive of psychologists, social workers, careers educators, life coaches and administrators who offer supportive services, including a variety of empowering programmes to the student community, to enhance their well-being and academic success.

In addition to the services offered to Wits Students the Unit also provides a Career Counselling Service to adults considering mid-career changes.

Emthonjeni Centre

The Emthonjeni Centre is a multidisciplinary Centre initiative of the Wits School of Human and Community Development. Services from several disciplines are offered to the public, including, Psychology, Social work, Speech pathology and Audiology.
